1nrome, I've always wondered what kind of wrecker would help a train wreck !

On another note I too live down here in Lindale and often go see my sister in Silver Creek. I've been at that stinky cross road before with a sick child for a long time. I never can make a good call. Do I wait it out or go around? Or if I go around will the other crossing be blocked as well. My idea was why don't they put an over pass like in Cedartown? I mean heck as much train traffic as we have it would be well worth it.

Now that's a good idea. Where are ya'll talking about running wild? I live on Reeceburg so I get caught in Lindale, 3 way stop in Silver Creek, then when I try to go around on Donohoo Road I usually run into the second one coming thru. I love to Joke, but this just ain't FUNNY.

Running Wild is down off of the other Old Rockmart Road just past Bethal Church Road.  It is an exotic animal farm.  The track in question is on Brice Station Road.  I've been told the train stops there quite often.

I would have been irritated beyond belief if I sat at a RR crossing for that long.

I didn't participate in the poll because I couldn't understand what it was that was actually being polled. Sorry.

You dont have to pick up and move , you can use the money that you got from the railroad company and find you a nice quite place,, thats what i would do

You Know Thatguy, A person like me listening to a person like you is an exercise in futility. I would rather listen to the trains. However, it seems that you know quite a bit about me or at least my business if you know I got enough to relocate. The only reason I got a fair deal with the Railroad is because I raised Hell and didn't let them push me around. They are bullys and took people for 6 miles up and down their new line for millions. They did it with lies and misrepresentation. The first we knew what they were doing was when we opened our eyes and saw what the end result would be. I do hope you deserve to use that symbol, I served 67-68 and and support it.

I was at the mill waiting on one train to pass the other daya and then another which had to start from a dead stop (which takes FOREVER).

A few days before that I was at the 3-way near the methodist church when one was parked as another passed. The parked train was not blocking the intersection and could have allowed the traffic (which was very backed up) to pass before it went but it did not... It had to start from a dead stop and we were forced to wait for it to pass.

I agree, this is ridiculous!

The way the double track is set up, if there was an emergency there is NO way to get around unless you use highway 27 but that would take longer than waiting the 20 to 30 minutes on the train.

All emergency vehicles would be cut off from Lindale...

Average Joe, No problem, I just p'oed at the railroad. They are really abusing our rights and showing their clout.

Good to hear from JD, I thought he might be heard from as he is thru this section from time to time.

Now the question is what could 1 person or a group of people do about this Mess?

What is the area going to do when School starts, They have a Train scheduled every day at just the right time. You would think that they might adjust their trains for the kids at least. But I think we all know it is all about profit. The Community is not on their screen and won't be until somebody zips a flying saucer across their Bow.

Oh Well, I guess I can go after them alone, I have met bigger bulls and succeeded. I dread it.

Well, I just realized that in the event of an emergency at my son's residence, trains could very easily prevent me from responding in a timely matter. Now that does just tick me off.

why should government build a overpass for the railroad? make the railroad build it themselves.

I'd say you'd need a leader, an organizer.  Are you up for that.  Then start making phone calls and writing letters and getting support.  There are a lot of people in Lindale that are affected by this.  You're just the first to bring it up.  when there is one that complains there are 100 that are bothered and keep silent.

failedbelle: Excellent answer, I would be glad to lead the effort to get the Railroad's Attention. Two things, #1. The problem is probably worse in Silver Creek that it is in Lindale as they are not willing to be as obvious in their disregard for the public on a lesser thoroughfare.

#2. The 3 way stop at Silver Creek on old Rockmart Rd. and Reeceburg is probably the worst as you have traffic coming from 3 directions rather than two. Several wrecks and near wrecks have occurred as people tried to get around the Jam and make some new route to their destination.

#3. Make no mistake the Railroad is powerful and the County Commissioners are afraid of them. They will give little help to the citizens knowing that  taking on the Railroad which has unlimited resources would cost Money and a lot of it.  But you know truth is "The Commissioners were elected to represent the citizens not bow down to the  railroad." They are good men and with a show of support from the Community might possibly get up the nerve to Try. I paid a lot of taxes and I know most of you have also, I personally think we should get at least some representation in return.

Finally, If you are a resident of Lindale or Silver Creek or anywhere else for that matter and you are affected by Norfolk Southern's actions, Please PM me or better yet if somebody knows how to start an on-line poll. I am up for anything to get some relief from the situation as it is. Let me hear from you.
