My husband and I are in our late 20's and have a 9 month old little girl. We are looking for a baptist church. We like small churches where we can get to know everyone, but at the same time not too small because I want there to be other kids that my baby will be able to interact with. I have went to churches where there are expectations such as dressing up, and not ever getting up to go to the restroom. We are looking for a laid back church. I do dress for church, but I like the fact that it isn't a must. I am open to all suggestions! Thanks!

The church you described is Mount Alto Baptist. We are a small church, but not too small. And, we have many young families with babies. We are located on Huffaker Road (turn onto Huffaker off Shorter between Sonic and the Shell station...go until Huffaker intersects with Technology...turn left and go approx 2 miles..the church is on the left). We have an early service and a later service Sunday mornings, Sunday and Wednesday night services. PM me for more info.

BJ and Lumbee my husband and I are looking too. We are visiting West Rome Baptist Church. I was raised in it and got out of church for a long time. We were members of 2 churches here in 5 yrs and got out again. We recently felt the pull to start back. We made the decision to start looking and find a church home that we would stick with. when a friend invited me to WRBC I was like YEAH RIGHT!! Well we went and are enjoying it. Yes it is big, not what we wanted, but the pastor there is teaching GODS word! We have went there 3 weeks and know that we will this next weeks cause we want to hear this next sermon from a series that he has delivered from God! It is really great. We went to discover WRBC class and it was great!! The pastor seems to truly want you to find the church you we are meant to be in and he said that if WR was not for you then let him tell you of others!! The preschool dept is great, my 5 yr old loves it!
The dress is COME AS YOU ARE!!!! I was shocked cause years ago WR was a dressy church. You can watch a sermon on their site http://www.westrome.org and you will see a little of what people wear!! I do recommend you watch to the 3 God in a box series that are posted now!!! GOOD STUFF!!!
We want to find a church home! We want to stay put so, we are going to visit till we are sure!!!!

Unless you are just committed to it being a Baptist church, check out Connect Rome church. No we do not meet in a bar anymore. Services are at 9:45 and 11:15 at Mount Berry Square Mall. The music is contemporary, the worship is great and the message is not only understandable but actually pertains to everyday life. Connect kids meet in the old Pearle vision store while the adults meet at "The Nest" (formerly a mexican restaurant at the main entrance)

We are not a baptist church but I would like to take the time to invite you anyway. Our church is United Christian Church of Rome. We have had services with as little as 5 people and as many as 50+. Currently we have been blessed with our own church building on Huffaker Road, almost directly across from the bowling alley on the right side of the road. We wear whatever we feel comfortable in and just have a good time worshipping the lord. You are welcome to visit.
Edited to add: Church service starts at 11:00 a.m.

My family and I are members of Three Rivers Community Church. We were looking for a church with mostly people our age. We found it! Currently there are about 150-250 people that attend and my pastor wears jeans almost each Sunday as do most members. Because our chuch is full of college students and young families, you see a wide variety of dress. We have a great program for kids and do many activities for families. I have been to many churches and can honestly say that our church is family orientated, educational, and friendly. We have many visitors each week and you will not feel out of place at all. In the baby room there are about 8-10 kids in there under the age of 1. Our preacher is an AWESOME teaching preacher. We actually look forward to going each Sunday and so do my children. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have. I really hope you find somewhere that you love, regardless of which church you choose!

I'm not sure about the age groups but my father attends West End Baptist and it's a small church. He really enjoys it.

Red, I thought as you did about WRBC being a dressy church. That's one thing I worry about when it comes to visiting a new church. I just don't want to feel out of place or like I'm being judged. In the bible it says "Come as you are"
I remember several years ago, My son was invited to visit his friend's church on a Wed. Keep in mind, The churches we always attended on Wed. was casual dress like jeans & t-shirt, shorts ( tasteful) & t-shirt. or for the ladies capris etc.. Well, My son got dressed he left and was gone about 15 mins and came back from his friend's house (Which is a neighbor) also. I said to him, I thought you were going to church? He said I am but they said I had to change clothes because I weren't dressed right! I said, What do you mean you aren't dressed right? He had on nice jeans and a polo collar shirt. He said, I have to wear Kahki's and not jeans. So he changed and left but he never attended that church again. They were just too strict on their beliefs. Plus my son didn't feel welcomed there.
The church was a Pentecostal Holiness Church and being raised in a church like that I know how strict their beliefs are. Once I got grown I became of Baptist faith. I feel like, So what you wear pants, cut your hair, wear make up, watch tv, etc, How is that a sin and Why would that keep you out of heaven? It's what in your heart that matters. I have always felt like you don't have to attend church to make you a christian or believe in God. Although I don't attend church like I should, I still love the lord and have faith in him. My 2 kids left at home attend church. My daughter goes with her friend on Wed. and Sundays. My son goes from time to time.

The process of visiting and choosing is a GREAT THING! We chose a new church home and visited all the ones and more listed above. We liked each one. We too have children and settled on a church thet met [most] of our needs and we were "most" comfortable & welcome. I love to visit other places for Mission activities and other events.
Look at this with a warm heart and visit as many as you can! re-visit & enjoy! take the time to appreciae your family & your walk with God.
We knew the moment we walked in where we chose to join & share our time/talent/gifts.
I still like visiting others tho & we try to do that once a month for events/etc... Kids and their frinds [to be] are better experienced when associated with a church!
