The God Sphinx is there where the problem is, between life and death on that cliff where those without the solution fall to their death. When it was outdone the Sphinx God fell to death too. Like Jesus on the cross? Like numerous other Gods, or creatures outdone? Last edited on Fri Nov 6th, 2009 07:02 pm by serpentfoot

I'm planning on delving into this thread when I have more time. Most folks aren't aware that the heroes/heroines in the xian bible are taken from elsewhere. For example, Easter is thought to be a holy xian day when it fact it derives from Queen Ishtar who came to earth in an egg. Thus, Easter (Ishtar) egg day.
Ishtar soon became pregnant and claimed that it was the rays of the sun-god Baal that caused her to conceive. The son that she brought forth was named Tammuz. Tammuz was noted to be especially fond of rabbits, and they became sacred in the ancient religion, because Tammuz was believed to be the son of the sun-god, Baal.
Every year, on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, a celebration was made. It was Ishtar's Sunday and was celebrated with rabbits and eggs. The truth is that Easter has nothing whatsoever to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Some wonder why the word "Easter" is in the the King James Bible. It is because Acts, chapter 12, tells us that it was the evil King Herod, who was planning to celebrate Easter, and not the Christians.

Thank you Madame Vigilante! I knew there had to be something else behind it but I had not caught that. I do remember seeing photos of that big snake mound in Ohio (?) with an egg near its head, and recall too how much the Russians love those decorated eggs and eggs inside eggs. All of us need more time to explore so much, but working together helps make up for our limited time. Thanks!

You're right! But no problem, Easter (Ishtar) and those eggs are immortal and don't mind waiting for Thanksgiving to have its turn. Indeed some well stuffed eggs will probably be featured and on the table waiting for the big bird.

Hey! Did Any of you notice--I mean REALLY NOTICE--that headline on the religion page of the Rome News Tribune Saturday (Nov. 7, 2009):
"GONE TO THE DOGS" LA CHURCH HAS PET SERVICES (? something like that?)
The church, like so many more now, was dying down, fewer and fewer attending. Then the pastor decided to be more like St Francis of Assissi and invited everybody to bring their dogs for prayers, blessings, food and fellowship. The church is thriving now with many of "Man's best friends". Of course there is a down side to that too, your God, Dog, wolf or lion may be a devil to others--especially if its a pit bull, Doberman Pincher, or other very aggressive, or "One Man" dog, tiger, or lion.
Surely they have to be careful not to end up with dog fights or cat fights. Still it sounds like a very enlightening sociology event, a real solution because I do know people who will not even go to a family reunion if they can't bring their adopted child, their doggie, along. And there are people who can't go without their seeing eye dog or other dog trained to calm their nerves.
The pastor had that hymn "DoG and GoD" (?). I'll post the link to that later unless one of you wants to do it now. Thanks! Last edited on Mon Nov 9th, 2009 02:33 pm by serpentfoot

The City Commissioners will probably be served individually and as a group Monday, 11-16-09. I'm not sure yet, when the County Commissioners will get served individually and as a group.
Besides the SPLOST election irregularity of scheduling it when the least county voters will be voting--and how that weighs the election in favor of minority rule against the majority's rights to equality of franchise--
I believe the most significant thing about the case is how indeed "history repeats itself"; that the same "Factory System" of trading posts, teamed up with Christian missions to deal with the indians and get them indebted (to pay it off with cessions of land) and drive them from their land, is very much like our local government deals with people today, especially the lower economic classes whose houses are so often condemned and demolished if they do not get accustomed to spending however much for what the building inspectors think needs to be rehabbed;, and with Christian prayers only at governmental meetings here.

And did you see today's front page ? The Downtown Development Authority did not like "Paula's" pink sign in HISTORIC DOWNTOWN ROME ? They totally destroyed Chief John Ross's 1828 home and the nearby graves of my Native American kin (where Barron Stadium is now) and intend to do some more redevelopment there, BUT PAULA CAN'T HAVE A PINK SIGN IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN ROME??????
That is not only racist, ethnocentric discrimination but also sexist discrimination not to allow some feminine pink--and the same shade as the breast cancer ribbons!
