The Pennsylvania Department of Labor is investigating whether "Jon & Kate Plus 8" is complying with child labor laws. What are the ethics of profiting from the story of these minors who are too young to consent to be filmed? Reportedly, the family is paid between $50,000 to $75,000 per episode. Is any of this money being set aside for them?

I have read where this family is nothing more than a sham....

Sadly, they are following the direction of mainstream America. Even the cartoons that kids used to be able to watch are no longer anything I want my grandkids watching. I think it comes down to a complete loss of morals among some of the Hollywood elite.

I can't wait until people get bored with "reality television". I prefer my shows to have actual writers, not just clever editors. I also perfer real actors instead of random weird people off of the street.

Amen...finally something we agree on.

Edited to add: If I wanted to watch a reality show I could just hang out on a bench at Wal-Mart!

It's not about the kids anymore. It's about cheating and an imploding marriage. Who cares?

My theory is that ratings were starting to go down, and they needed to spice up the show a little, so they set up this whole cheating scandal to get folks to start watching again.

I thought the first season was interesting to see how they would cope with 8 kids, especially 6 newborns, and the exhaustion that comes with that. But I lost interest after a few shows.

If Jon and Kate violate child labor, what about the other shows like the family with 18 kids!! How do they get around that?

Does anybody still even care about this train wreck? They need to cancel this show and let them go on welfare like the other folks who have 8 kids.

I never watch these reality shows (I have had enough reality in my own life and it is continued:) I did read the other day that Octomom was being investigate on child labor laws for allowing a magazine to take pictures of her children. Think of how many magazines, films and comercials include children, are they all following the child labor laws?

Try the Bill Engall Show on TBS.  He is trying very hard to produce a FAMILY show.  He just needs support/viewers to keep it on.

I really enjoy reality shows... I don't watch much TV anyways usually when I do it's something reality.  Oh and I watch Nurse Jackie and True Blood which isn't reality LOL
