Well, I see that the price of gas has dropped for the past 3 days.  The state average is $2.61 a gallon and dropping.  Gas is 10 to 20 cents cheaper a gallon in the immediate surrounding towns.

Someone please explain to me why Rome pays more.  Something is just not adding up.

Gas stations are bad places, we need to burn them al down,,,, or we can just complain to congress but that never works so go with the first option

Shadow, you have to admit that they are a tight knit group and stick together like glue. I say we all by our gas in other counties and cities for a few weeks.

I have been complaining about this for a couple of years. I paid $2.48 in Cartersville yesterday for regular gas. Today it was a couple of cents lower than that. Stations in Rome are quick to raise the price, but very slow in lowering the price! I don't buy gas in Rome!

No edits, changed my mind.

I very rarely ever buy gas in Rome for a few reasons. It is cheaper out of town, I carry my wife out to eat in Cartersville and since I am there I get gas. We shop in Cartersville, again because it is cheaper or in Centre before we come home from the lake. Why do I do that? I pay less tax on goods I get. In Floyd Co., you pay an extra 3 cents on the dollar (not a State tax, Just a Floyd County Tax), due to voter choice. I simply choose not to pay it. That 3 cents on the dollar adds about 9 cents extra to a gallon of Gas for people in Floyd County, again by voter choice. I figure since I didnt vote for it Ill do my best not to support it, My Choice. I laugh when I see the signs "SHOP ROME", why when I can get it cheaper elsewhere?

that's a good theory BEENAROUND, but not really accurate. all of the surrounding counties have a 3% county tax as well with the nearest with only 2% county tax being Cherokee Co,Ga. and Cobb counties.

list of sales tax by county in Ga:

Gas has always been cheaper in Bartow Co. for as long as we have lived out here.

Then the question is "Why not move?". It seems that relocating will resolve your economic stress.

I have noticed that also,  When traveling through Cartersville.

I usually get gas from Murphy USA.   If happen to run low I will get it from Dragon fuel seeing I frequent Lindale.

Well I have actually considered it after living and working here my entire life.If it were not for our daughter and grand daughters being here it wouldnt be a hard decision. Thanks though, it is an option since we do have the lake house.

The problem could be solved by moving to Lindale.  When gas was $2.51 in West Rome, it was $2.34 in Lindale.  At the BP near the grocery store, the gas station on Maple right past the funeral home, and at the Marathon on Maple Street right under the interchange.

How many times are we going to have to go over this.
IT IS NOT PRICE GOUGING, it is called a free market.

The solution is simple: Dpn't buy gas from a station that overcharges.
