I am sitting in my home as the 6th train goes by in the last 30 minutes. That is 5 too many. About a year and 6 months ago Norfolk Southern sent their hired gun through the Lindale, Silver Creek area taking right of way. When they knocked on my door they were polite as they told me they were going to take 45" by 1800" of my land. I being the shy person I am told them they would take my land when hell froze over. They then offered to buy it and 6 months after multitudes were robbed by their Snake Oil Salesman, they finally paid me based on my figures not theirs. Ok, I agreed to that.

But the story is not over, there is old original Real Estate term called "Substantial Misrepresentation" that means telling a d__n lie to make money. They robbed hundreds  and told them a lie about what they were planning to boot. We now have trains stopped all over the place blocking major arterys "at least major in Silver Creek and Lindale" for way to long. I will shorten this down and give my little testimony. I just sat at the 3 way stop in Silver Creek while 1 train stopped so the other could pass for 31 minutes. That is way, way too long. What if someones child were injured or some elderly person needed any ambulance. They had both Lindale and Silver Creek blocked with their complete disregard for the people of the community. They like most large corporations promise the moon and then do what they please. They called me Jesse James for holding out for my price, they however are like Bernard Madoff, they took the land, doubled if not tripled their traffic and have turned our community into a Rail Yard. Comments?

Are any of those promises they made on paper and signed on the dotted line?

Promises,Promises, The best line was "You can Trust us, we are neighbors" Fact is they mispresented their intentions and whether everything is reduced to writing while very important does not always stand up with a Jury.

Ah, that is true but it has a better chance of standing up if it is in writting. Also, how about the neighbors, how do they feel about the situation? Are there grounds for a class action suit for breach of promise?

I have noticed the very situation you mention, at the 3 way stop. It's ridiculous! I've also been stopped nearly that long at the main rr crossing on Park at Lindale 1st Baptist.

I for one can not stand to have to travel thru Lindale or Silver Creek because of the trains... Why can't they build the road over the tracks? My little brother got so many tardy slips last year because of those trains. Oh and not to mention you can bank on a train right at about 3:00 or a little after when traffic is so bad there. Its like they time the trains with the traffic. I just don't understand why they can't step up especially with all the tax money we have to pay in and do something about it... I would be more willing to pay a penny extra (sploast) for tax, if it would build a road over these tracks. Now that might be worth it!

That is what they did in Chamblee. The train would just stop and sit with the engine just far enough across the road to block traffic for half an hour. They built an overpass.

Was that yesterday about 8:00 at night.  I was there.  That kind of thing used to be really bad in Coosa.  I don't know if it still is or not but I think it has been alleviated since Kraft bought the road leading to the mill.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease.  It is somewhat about money and connections in this town as far as getting anything done but I remember a couple of years ago that the people of Lindale had several meetings with the police to try to bring the crime rate down.  I know that they are not afraid to speak up.

Actually my 31 minute sojourn took place from 9:55 till 10:26, I timed and noted it for future reference. Someone mentioned Class action suit. This is the ideal vehicle for letting the railroad answer questions concerning their many mispresentations of the project. They Flat Out "Lied" from day one. They do not like the spotlight, I know I shined it on them and they backed off. Maybe it's time to give them another run for their billions.

I was there just before 8:00.  There was one train going very slow then another faster train passed right beside it.  The faster train went by and we still had to wait at least 5 more minutes before the slow train cleared.  I've never seen a train go that slow.

I sure do hate to hear that as i used to live in Lindale  those train whistle will scare you out of the bed. and sound so  scary now that they are so often. i am glad i don,t live there anymore.  it should be  where they have to leave one set of tracks open. HOW about when school is in session? please stand up for your.e  rights.

Not only schoold buses but emergency vehicles, fire trucks, ambulance, police cars, etc. could be held up when trying to reach an emergency situation and lives could be lost. It is a situation that does need to be addressed.
