I think it is in my best interest to checkout from here for awhile. I have been intensely involved in this business for the past two months. Many, many events have occurred that have been very, very stressful. I have recorded almost 5000 miles in the past two months driving back and forth between Rome and Gwinnett County.

I sold this deal in the best interest of my family. The deal I had in Rome fell through because of my involvement with the RomeNewswire. So I had to make a choice. I think I did what was in the best interest of this company and my family.

Some of you have chosen to pile on me now about decisions I made for the betterment of this site. That's fine, you are all entitled to your opinion. I purposely chose some moderators here because I felt they had a more liberal stance and I completely stayed out of discussions to avoid showing favor to any one side of an issue.

I let Serpentfoot droll on with her rants trying to be open-minded and received numerous complaints about her. I had many discussions with her and listened to her complaints when she felt as if she was being attacked. Regardless of what you all think about her, she is dedicated to her message and her beliefs. While we may not agree with her, she has just as much of a right to post here as any of the rest of us do.

I am generally a kind-hearted person and I tend to take people for their word. This is definitely a fault of mine at times. I would like to go into more detail with this but I made some promises to some people that I don't intend on breaking as I am a man of my word. Let's just say that I have been enlightened by many things over the past few months.

I would like to thank those of you who have befriended me over the past few months, I appreciate you more than you will ever know.

I am sure I will be back eventually, but I think it would be best for the new owners to not have me as a distraction on this site. I will be helping them out with few things on the newswire for a couple of weeks and then I will be gone.

Maybe I will come back as Tex. We'll see...then again, maybe not.

Good luck to you all.

Bill

No matter what anyone might think, if you are putting your family first, then you are doing the right thing. The best of luck to you. You know, I wouldn't mind seeing Tex around, he looks like Sam Elliot. :D

I wasn't going to say anything else on here but I couldn't pass this up, Lumbee you have been great. You have done a fine job as a moderator. I couldn't have asked a better person. Good luck to you.

I agree with NH. I think Lumbee is one of the better mods with no hidden agenda. I like her honesty. When she makes a mistake, she is not too proud to admit it. She also doesn't let the moderator title go to her head. Some mods here feel like they should be allowed to rule with an iron fist and be the moral authority for this site. If you disagree with them, they take it personally. That's why it is a fine line for mods to post their personal opinions on controversial issues. When you mix strong opinions and censorship authority, things can get ugly...

Bill, hats off to you. You came in, made decisions that you thought you were right and stuck to them. I'm truly sorry that things didn't work out for you! I hope you decide to come back. :)

What's goin on? I am not a moderator so don't have a clue. Have you sold your business? Are you closing it up? I certainly hope not? What is the deal, some of us just get on here every now and then, we can't sit and wait on posts so that we can take the other side.

You have done well, if you are gone, then take the high road and if family is involved, I understand.

Bill I wish you well and family should always come first.
No it was not only rules that started the drop, there was a lot more flaming and a huge push in religion and politics that helped push alot of people off. The rules did enable those two topics to to be pushed in a manner, it is amazing what is excepted in a thread in the name of a god or two.
But if you disagree with the statement you tend to get flamed and have rules thrown at you.
