I don't understand the big deal with this. The problem is that the school admin did not have the guts to stop it when it first started, and apparently, no had the guts to speak up either. Now, after it has been allowed to go on for a while, and is now "common practice", everyone thinks that something is being "taken away" from them. Truth is that it never should have been allowed in the first place.

If folks want to start an evangelical school, they need to stop accepting government funds, so they can have prayers and bible study all day long, if they want.

James Madison wrote, "...practical distinction between Religion and Civil Government is essential to the purity of both, and as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States" (1811 letter to Baptist Churches).

The amusing part is that if this concerned any other faith or was race/gender based everyone would be in an uproar and the govt would have the FBI investigating...go figure.

So we're restricting freedom of speech to cater to those who demand freedom from speech.

Welkome to Amerika.

C'mon Mr T. HS football is a secular game. Why do we need to inject religion into it? Why not just post signs saying "LET'S GO WARRIORS" or "SHAVE THE EAGLES" (bald eagles, get it?), like we used to do when I was in school. Why do Christians think they need to spread their faith everwhere? Not EVERYONE who goes to a football game is Christian...

How does it "HARM" you to see the signs. It doesn't. If you see one you can choose not to look at it, however when you tell a religious group that they can't display a sign that is "HARMING" them by taking thier freedom of speech away.

That's my three-and-a-half cents worth.:P

NH, I never said I was "harmed" by the verses, but as a Catoosa County taxpayer, I don't think my property taxes should support public schools that promote religion. Just MHO.

Another issue this brings up is exclusion of non-Christians from becoming LFO cheerleaders, since they are the ones who paint ths signs. Cheerleading and playing football should not be tied to a single religion. I think it was the right decision to remove the signs from the field.

it's not freedom of speech in question, it's separation of church and state

How does it "HARM" you to see the posts. It doesn't. If you see one you can choose not to look at it.Please explain your amazing power to know what something says without reading it.And try to think out of the box. What would your opinion be if they were holding up signs that said WORSHIP SATAN,KING OF DARKNESS?Do you support that also?Or is it okay as long as you agree with it.Again this is more a matter of separation of church and state than of freedom of speech.and why are you not out asking the powers that be why they allow"JESUS IN THE (PUBLIC)PARK" and won't allow GGW on private property.

I hope so Red.I would hope that everyone pays the same.I would absolutely ask that question if I was a news reporter. And what if the Klan wanted to rent it for a rally?Would they let them? And I am being hypothetical here.I don't support Satan or the Klan.
