Sad deal there RGS....if he had a supervisor to help out it could have been different.
2nd shift implies 8 hrs shifts....a little different that 12 hour shifts.....have you worked 40 hours in a row then slept for two hours and started over......
If these persons were paid for nearly what they are worth, they would not need two or three jobs to make ends meet.
We don't even get to sick babies or the workers themselves.....have a heart there liberal queen.

Sleeping is a serious offense and deserves punishment.........but its easy to ignore toosa when you realize and consider what his brand supports...... oral sex in the oval office while on duty..............free checks and food stamps for those who sleep all day because they refuse to work............health care on an equal basis for those who work 12 hour shifts and those who use heroin all day........
Probably, what really angers toosa, is that the officer was fired quickly and no more blood will be harvested from that turnip................

I worked 12 hour shifts (nights) for 5 years and at one point worked 19 straight days. I never went to sleep on the job but it was because it was so fast paced that there was no time to stop. Once you work a few of those shifts, it becomes almost impossible to wind down and be able to sleep when you should.
I cannot imagine working those hours and having times when nothing is going on and not going to sleep. You can spend a few hours being very busy and once you sit down for a minute, you don't want to get back up.
I doubt the officer would have been fired had someone not taken pictures of him asleep. That creates publicity and drastic measures have to be taken to save face (or butt). I have heard of officers committing much worse offences and just being given a probationary period or being laid off without pay for a few days.
Was his punishment too harsh? That's not for me to say.
